Identity fraud increases
London – Identity fraud has increased in the UK, according to a recent study.
CIFAS: The fraud prevention service in Britan, says that there has been a seventeen percent rise in identity theft and fake id since last quarter.
The CIFAS saved a reported 163 million pounds from the identity theft instances that they foiled last quarter.
Peter Hurst, CIFAS's chief executive described the continued threat of identity fraud as "very worrying for individuals".
'Every impersonation involves an innocent victim. Many have already been the subject of street crime, burglary or assault and had personal documents stolen,' he said.
Australia decides against National Identity Card – ( fake id )
Australia's Prime Minister has proposed a full scale national id, and it was recently shot down in favor of a national health and welfare access card.
It will replace seventeen existing id cards and save the government at least Three billion Dollars every year They beleive that it will reduce fraud by using security features including a biometric photograph. The id card won't carry fingerprints.
